On my way to learning to drive one of these...

The Volvo is only a 1.8, doesnt pull very well at all but the interior is a plesant place to be, the centre console is very wierd to use, lots of different buttons to press and very confusing when your on the move.

Ride isn't too bad, engine isn't nearly as powerful as it should be, feels like more of a motorway cruiser.

One thing i did think was a nice touch was the space behind the centre console, very cool looking.

And the forklift... spent a couple of hours on one today, and it was immense fun :D

Got the Volvo all week, doesn't seem to like being conservative on the Juice though, lowest MPG went on the computer was 18 MPG and highest was about 38 MPG.

Cool, how long is the course your on?

Going to do my flt in march for five days. Will be hopefully getting one of the works pool cars ( mondeo zetec/ghia/ghiax tdci's ) failing that im at the mercy of the hire car company which gave the previous group of 3 a Megane cc!!

Going from a 94' Astra with the most luxurious item being Electric windows, i was more than happy to jump in a car with Climate control, leather and cruise control (although i couldnt get that to work for some reason?)

Its 5 days, although from what they have been describing it as, we could have easily got it all done in 3-4 Days.

Going to be a bit of a change when i go back to work, as im learning on a 3-Wheel Electric truck, and the ones im going back to are 4-Wheel LPG ones.

Yeah, will be in the same position myself, though we are site assesed as well on return. The licence will also mean getting let loose on a Svetruck 30t stacker :D

Welli think the instructor follows me back to brief me the controls on our trucks, how to change the Gas bottles etc.

These are the ones i would be using, outdoor use only...

Volvos are growing on me, dad is looking to test drive a V70 for his new company car lease..

My only niggle would be the passenger half of the dash, its really not very imaginative at all, and the door pockets are TINY!

This is the interior (manual though) i have, the plastic inserts look like they forgot to paint them though :(

Not bad cars to drive, i had the pleasure of one for just over 1k up and down from Aberdeen, some parts felt a little on the cheap side though.

I done my FLT course age's ago, took only three days - to be fair i only done reach truck and not counter balance though :p

Back on topic my bro-in-laws got a Volvo (S40) his always felt a bit underpowered in my opinion (1.6L) and i felt the gearing was too long - His BMW's sweet though ;)

Found out the course would usually be 2.5 days, but because theres 3 of us on the course, it takes longer to take turns etc as we are all using the same truck, hence 5 day course.

Never mind, and its the counter balance im doing :D

Passed the course.

100% in the Theory, and 94% in the practical.

Yesterday i got 18 marks against me in a practice run, the instructor said thats at Instructor level, today i got 6 marks against me, the Instructor said he had never been able to do better than 9 marks against him, so pretty chuffed :)

love the way they blur the background to make it look like its going fast :D

did my FLT in half a day along with test 3 yrs ago now, I think you need a re-train every 2 yrs so mines null and void I would think by now.
