You can get the U2412 from Dell direct cheaper.

U2412 is an inferior display to the u2410 (superior colour accuracy and connectivity) which I have, bought that for a silly £470 back in November 2010 but it was already updated to REV A02.

What's different in A02? Mine is an A01 from May 2010.

There isn't really any point in updating firmware from A01~A02 because most fixes came in your version from A00.

If you wanted to know the difference then a quick Dell forum search yielded this info from a Dell staffer:

A01 to A02
- Improve grainy issue in video modes by modifying the sharpness table
- Removed the unwanted black bar in pivot OSD
- Resolved DisplayPort audio mute issue
- Modify and standardize the DisplayPort power save sleep/wake scheme

Only if you have issues.

thinking of upgrading to 24" from a 22" viewsonic and a dell something that's square and very old. to 2 of the Iiyama worth it? there is also the asus on sale as well

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-028-AS&tool=3

what do i do?

Early morning reply so hope it makes sense... Depends on your budget & what setup you already have if your after replacing a couple of existing monitors capable of powering them 1080p or 1200p on the Dell. Budget wise I'd go for the Asus & save yourself £20 each which is what others are charging - OcUK are the cheapest there.

The Asus VE247H 24" is an very good monitor but there are mixed reports about the viewing angles on moving your head side to side where it fades (Asus VE247H: 170°(H)/160°(V) / Dell UltraSharp U2410: 178°/178°), this is typical of LCDs but cheaper panels will be more noticeable. On this Dell u2410 I only ever notice slight fading with movies, everything else is perfect, bright and vivid. I mostly have brightness/contrast on 47/47. In the old CRT days on low it gave me migraines but this never has.

Also note that the Asus isn't a true 24" but 23.6". The Dell is full 24" with 1:1 pixel mapping without any horrible scaling for the video purists, will still be fine for 1080p btw. On the Dell playing an old game at 1280x1024 it won't stretch the image (black vertical bars) although you can change this option if required to Fill, Aspect, or 1:1 in the Display Settings Menu on the fly. May seem minor if you never used it before but even most modern TVs had this option at least the past few years so why not monitors?
