That was a great price on the 680 contrats to the lucky ones that bagged it, probably for the best that I missed out - would have been a bit too much month left at the end of the money haha.

Has anyone installed the POV-TGT GeForce GTX 680 yet, mines arrived but I won't be able to install it for a few days. My main concern would be noise, I forgot I use my PC in the bedroom and sometimes have to leave it running over night where the noise could be a problem.

I haven't installed it yet but it uses the reference cooler so have a look at some reviews of reference 680's and see what they say about noise. These are not particularly loud cards but you will probably notice it in a quiet room.

It is a reference card, so should run pretty quiet.

Thanks, I looked at some reviews and the noise level of a few cards and you seem to get mixed reviews with all of them.

I guess I'll just have to give it a go.

At the end of the day, any fan will be audible if you are listening for it with no background noise. At Idle the card should be fairly silent as things go, so you should have no problems leaving it on at night unless you are stress testing or something.

I finally got it in without any issues, the card is in fact so quiet I had to check the fan was spinning as there was no hoover impression at start up.

In game is also very quiet, I didn't hear any increase in noise even when playing ARMA2/OA.
The fan only goes to about 50% and temp tops out at about 71.
I did manually set it to 100% and that is quite noisy but about the same as the 5850.

Overall for me it's as quiet as my 5850 at idle if not a touch quieter.

Down side is there isn't that much improvement over my 5850 in Arma2/OA FPS are exactly the same. Other games do show some improvement, not massive but ok but then I have increased graphics options as well.
