How long until we see 2TB HDD prices return to what they were before the floods?
I think the lowest we got to was about low 50s. I certainly picked up a 2TB for £55 at some point. How long until we see this do you think?

woah 2TB for 80 quid. Might buy one, and put it on my old externals casing as use it as a 2TB external, thats a right bargain!

Seem to be the average price at moment,
Western Digital WD20EARX drives are available for £79.99 and the Seagate ST2000DM001 are available for £71.99

Dont forget to include the reduced warrenty period whan assesing hdd prices.
Puts me off buying a 2TB for now, and most definitely from seagate with their 1 yr.

I would not touch a Seagate drive with a barge pole after having two of them and both failing. There's a reason why they're so cheap guys, also look at the warranty.

+1, also had 2 of them fail on me. Got them replaced under warranty easily enough but doubt I'll ever use their replacements.

Great price on the thermal compound and mine's just about to run out. Good to see it's also Stulid's paste of choice. ;) Ordered.

Such a shame that Samsug sold up to Seagate. Always been wary of Seagate drives and to throw in a terrible 1 year warranty is ridiculous. Hopefully we'll see some WD drives around the £70-75 mark in the next few months. Need some for my HTPC and home server!

Seen one the other day for £71.99 so prices are coming down.

Probably a long time, possibly never.

(a) It takes a long time to rebuild factory capacity
(b) NAND production continues to increase and make SSD more cost effective.

Everyone has a story to tell about HDDs and how brand X has failed on them Y times. Seagate are no less reliable than any other manufacturer in my experience.

I recall reading that they had chosen not to rebuild as much and reduced output, and from what the ocuk staff have said it would seem nand production is set to stall for a bit.
/sigh storage woes

True.

It really is just a same about the warranty reductions the hdd manufacturers have done, but the 1 yr is truly pathetic. I hope they lose sales revenue and learn, but unfortunately that seems unlikely.

I bought one of these 2TB drives of OC a couple of weeks ago I fitted it yesterday. I Googled for reviews before hand and most people said there was a clicking noise when the drive parked. I have heard any noises it quite as a mouse.
