But the VTX is faster by 50 Mhz?

The GPU is the same on both. Its MHz rating as you have pointed out is not. What you need to consider is that when this card was added to site it could well have been and as such it may now not be (GTX680s for example)

Still the fastest single GPU (debatable) as its the 7970 used
