Today is 25/09/2013 ;)

I've never really understood how a mechanical keyboard might benefit me, as a multiple forum user, who only rarely launches a game that is not a race-sim these days (the days of endless hours playing UT are dwindling) that involves a lot of keyboard use.

Would the Xonar benefit me over the Realtak 889(?) on my old age X48C Platinum mobo, considering it is only hooked up to a set of 2.1 Aego Ms?

The only thing stopping buying this keyboard is the fact it does not have a number pad. Looks an awesome deal though

Same, can't be doing without a numberpad... Went with a Ducky Zero instead as wanted Brown-MX switches too!

(The Brown isn't as 'quiet' as I'd hoped - dread to think how loud the Reds are!)

Reds are supposedly a decent bit quieter, at least sound "softer" supposedly.... iirc There is no click feedback with the reds.

It is partly why I am considering red over brown despite brown probably suiting me better (type + game) as I hate loud keyboards :(

Is mechanical really that much better? i mean is there any benefit for the average gamer who isn't really fussed how a key feels/sounds when you press it.

Looks a good deal, but i'm trying to convince myself that it would improve my gaming performance before i replace my £5 keyboard i've had for over 5 years :)

For instance is it like switching from a mech hdd to an SSD sort of a difference, for me that leap in performance was so noticeable and was worth the cost.

I was of the same opinion but I'd always 'promised' myself one... Changed from a beige 'Kensington' cheapo (not sure where it even came from...) to the Ducky Zero with Brown-MX and definitely noticed the difference in gaming. Typing I can tell there is a difference, but don't do enough of it (at home) to notice.

Changing from an MS Intellimouse to a Roccat Kone Pure Core made a much bigger difference to gaming (BF3). Although my 'twitch' style play I can tell the Ducky (mech) is more responsive.

I am still asking myself that same question :p :o

Need to replace my eclipse II and am either going to get the:

- cm storm rapid fire TK red or brown switch

or

- corsair raptor k30 (if it ever comes in stock......)

I don't think there is enough of a difference in terms of performance in games to be worth worrying about....

Main thing that appeals to me over membrane is that your fingers won't feel as fatigue/cramped after 4 or so hours of gaming, at least with the red switch anyway.........

Such a PITA trying to decide which switch to get as well! (nowhere near me to try out)

I've got a G15, and I'd never felt any need for a mechanical keyboard over a membrane... But then I tried other membranes (Sidewinder x4, Zalman KM-400G among others) and it was an awful experience of sponginess. I guess mechanicals are a step in the better direction...

Good price on the k65, only put off by the lack of a backlight really. Probably going to pick up a Corsair keyboard at some point but for the moment they're just a touch too expensive in the models I'm really hankering after.

Nice to see a compact mechanical here finally instead of all the huge keyboards.

At least I know if I need to buy another I won't have to import...
