What would the 7" tablet be like if used as an alternative to a kindle book reader. I was thinking of getting my GF a kindle for xmas but if this tablet is decent then i will get her one of these instead.

I would recommend a kindle over an LCD screened device any day.
Ive still got the kindle 3rd Gen and am loving it.

Back on topic, great deals on OCuk, :P

I disagree.
The wife has a Kindle & I have a cheapo tablet. We both read Kindle books on our devices & I think unless you read outdoors in the sun a cheapo tablet is fine. Especially if you want to surf, listen to music & watch films too.

EDIT I also play downloaded films onTV using my cheapo tablet.

Tablet is a good price, trouble is, isn't that CPU incompatible with a lot of apps? Still it would make a great gift or a starter tablet for someone that wanted web browsing and movie player functionality

For reading, the basic e-ink Kindle is untouchable. I take it everytime over my Ipad3 and Galaxy Note. You can read it in the brightest conditions and there is absolutely no annoying glare from the screen. Tablets and phones come nowhere close. The Kindle also only needs charging about once every 6 weeks (daily use).

Kindle for books, Ipad3 for tablet and Galaxy Note or S3 for phone. That's the best of all worlds.

£69 for an ICS tablet is an absolute steal, but I wouldn't really read books on any tablet.
