hmmm nice combo... but i thought the mobo was £149.99..... did it suddenly go up in price since i bought it with my oc bundle a few months back.

seems asus has the lead on all other brands for a top notch mobo.

cpu is cracking at that price even if you keep it at stock speed.... like ever(!)

I hope ocuk can sent me this i7 950 3.06ghz for free to celebrate my birthday today :) Only I wishful thinking!

We have over 12,000 members on the forum, of course we will send every customer a free £200+ item.

With the difficulty in sourcing 950's (hence the price rise) I bet you couldn't do it, even if you wanted to! :p

Gene was the one i was going to go for if i do

Pretty much my thinking, the colour scheme suits my case choice and the ROG features would be useful to me.

The only thing that's holding me back is I couldn't have a dual slot video card, PCI-Ex Sound Card and PCI-Ex RAID/SSD Card in all at once unless I put the video card in the lower slot hmm... tiny thing really, but there you go.

obviously there are limitations to matx, but isnt the onboard x-fi good enough? and you need more raid than the onboard will provide?

Indeed - the RAID card is not a necessity, more looking to the future when PCI-Ex based SSD's become more the norm.

The onboard software X-Fi (its a Via Codec chip with Creative software X-Fi) should be good enough for now, but doesn't support positional audio (CMSS-3D?) afaik.

not sure about the sound, i guess for futureproof and expansion the other board would be the better choice, all i know is myself ill have one and maybe 2 gfx cards max the rest will be usb or sata :) depends what you need i guess

Indeed - to be honest I'm over-specifying... I've bought two 60GB Sandforce SSDs for it already so unlikely to even have a PCI-Ex SSD any time soon!

its normally the case :) for me also... dunno what it is but something about matx i like.............. fyi the board and cpu can be had for 399 which i think is pretty decent?
