I'm getting an upgrade this christmas.
i5 2500k
Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3P

And I'm very tempted by today's deal of 16GB Kingston RAM for £59.99.

But it seems a little over kill for a PC that will 60-70% of the time will be used purely for Gaming.

I will using it for work too, coding mostly.

Any thoughts on the benefits of having more RAM than I think I ever will really need? Seems silly to let this chance to go for double what I'd have otherwise for less than twice the price..? (Alternative being - this)

Like you say, the difference between double is only £5 cheaper. I would just go for 8gb personally. Even thats more than enough. Are you likely to EVER use photoshop, or cad?

Nope, Anyway, its for 4x4gb. Easy enough to clag in another 2 sticks in you wanted to.

Just go for the 8gb. Spend the money saved on something else.
