amongst many others that have basically made my phone a brick

Hi! Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Please remove the Webview Update and then restart the phone. Here are the steps: Go settings > apps > tap the three dots in the top right corner > show system apps > search for Android System WebView > select Uninstall updates. ^Nina

It works!!! Ah thank fudge. I can access my money now again. Just goes to show what it would be like if there was no physical money and it was all electronic. Grim....

I was pulling my hair out last night wondering why certain apps kept crashing and other were fine. Tried clearing the cache of the app, then the data, then the system cache, then reinstalling one of the apps. Finally found that tweet by Samsung, removed the update as suggested, and everything is working again. I thought that I had malware on my phone for a second and even downloaded a few different apps and ran scans. Uh. :(

Loads of apps not working for me either. AccuWeather, outlook, media players, Lloyds Bank, Amazon.

I thought it was a local issue but now it seems to me that the big server that collects all of our data is not working making the apps inoperable :D

New update to WebView with the fix is out, apps are now working again. For those running Android 7 to 9, it doesn't use webview but instead Chrome, so you'll need to update that.

Weirdly enough I set my phone to use Android WebView Beta but the bug was still affecting me, and swapping back to stable WebView solved it for me, but after the update to stable, I can use beta again even though it did not get an update itself.

Absolute joke, you would have thought they would test stuff before releasing it like cowboys.

Not me but the wife was, and about 700 of my customers.

My first line BES team were all over it thankfully.

Had this last night and it took someone on Reddit a few minutes to diagnose the fault and provide a solution, long before Google even acknowledged it.

Pretty sick of the increasing number of issues I'm experiencing across all of their range of products tbh.

Cheers for this. The apps FotMob ad Sky's Super 6 stopped working for me until i uninstalled the updates above.
