I lost and I'd got a supercharged 4.2 litre 390bhp V8 at my disposal

However my competitor had a 4.3 liter V8 with 490bhp

Is the second one a F430

Is the first one A range rover sport or a Jaguar XKR.

Pretty sure it would be a jag xjr or xkr versus the 430. rangey uses a 4.3 version of the jag engine iirc.

I'm guessing it must have been the Rover that won then. Those headgaskets are great for withstanding huge amounts of power.

aha its the NASP V8 thats the different size to the jag not the supercharged...

Sounds like fun, though with the weight of the Rangey it's not exactly surprising the fezza beat you...

I was part of a convoy down to Goodwood a couple of weekends back which had both of the above participants in (albeit an RR Sport). The 430 was, as usual, driven like it was stolen but the RR didn't lose too much distance to it. Quite an amusing sight really.

Racing ferraris is great fun, I beat one round a roundabout once even though I was driving my Escort lol and I could feel the car wanting to slide out, guess I had bigger cahones (sp?)

A 430 would leave any RR as a spec on the horizon.
Even a Hot Hatch - Civic Type R etc would leave your RR in clouds of dust!

Weight is the killer - 2632 kg

and the high centre of gravity would make cornering fun
