Todo list on osx desktop?

Is there a program which lets me add a to do list on my osx desktop?
I know it's easy to just open up ical but I'd like something which is right there infront of me.

you're right, something that integrates with iCal is what I'm looking for, no point having two sets of to-do lists.
The check off looks good, will give that a try.
