Tokyo Olympics 2020

I've just watched it and what was so impressive was how well she did considering her size. The BBC highlights showed another girls run who fell near the end and due to her size and weight she just had so much more speed and momentum to get up the ramps.

Crazy ages to be winning medals in the Olympics at 12 & 13

Mad, isn't it? Used to get a lot of that in the gymnastics but they clamped down on it because it was a problem for the girls involved in their later life. The situation in skateboarding is a bit different, the reason that you get these young girls competing is that they're the best female skateboarders because for so long it was so male dominated that these are the first generation of female skateboarders that have been skateboarding from a young age and got really good at it. I expect that by the next Olympics they'll be older, and by 2028 we'll see the female skateboarders being more normal in age for top athletes.

IFSC clarification on the climbing...

Apparently if B Mawem doesn't continue, then he just places 8th. Megos doesn't take the 8th final spot.

Adam Ondra was up against B Mawem in the speed competition, so he would get a bye, guaranteeing him at least 4th in the speed competition. Massive boost for him.

I'm watching the climbing on Eurosport with Epic TV commentary* on YouTube today https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EAgun0GIVBI

*they're calling it a "watch along" rather than "commentary" but it's a lot better than the Eurosport commentary I was listening to yesterday. Talking about shoe choice, knowing what the moves are and knowing a lot more about the athletes.

EpicTV is my usual lunchtime youtube viewing :) Think I'll do the same when Eurosport finally get back to the climbing at 1320 for the lead.

Sounds like Janja is tearing up the bouldering competition as expected

Just saw a video of sky brown suffering a horrific fall last year on the ramp from 15 foot onto concrete, fractured her skull lucky to be alive

What a comeback from such a horrific injury

Ben Maher just jumped clear on his horse 'Explosion' in the showjumping in the time allowed with no penalties. He's into the medals jumpoff in a few minutes. Love showjumping, nerve wracking watching it hoping they don't knock a pole off.

Wasn't the silver medal winner 12?

Crazy ages to be winning medals in the Olympics at 12 & 13

Yep, 12 years old. Mad.

Shes apparently worth £5m already and has a nike sponsorship deal and over 1m followers on insta. Amazing but she needs to be very careful and I hope she has fantastic parents. Thats so young to have that sort of attention and exposure to the public.

Bronze medal at that age is just mind boggling though.

Wow, didn't know she was worth so much money. I imagine she has great parents just by the way she conducts herself. Really well brought up, going over to all the other skaters after their runs congratulating them, and looking so sweet and humbled on the podium.

Goddamn, poor KJT in the heptathlon! :(
