Just found out I am going to Tokyo for work in a couple of weeks. Flying out on a Tuesday (so get there Wednesday) and was due to fly back Friday but have persuaded by boss to add an extra night to the hotel and move the flight to Saturday (£70 extra) so I now have a free day in Tokyo to see the sights.

Anybody have any recommendations on things I should see on that day and also anyone know the best way to deal with money - work are going to sort me some actual cash but would I need a card for anything specific.

Also curious on what the English is like out there because I do not speak Japanese in the slightest :)

Thanks guys. It looks like I am getting 30000 YEN from work for the few days I am there (hotel already paid for), this is to cover Wednesday when I arrive, Thursday when on site, Friday when free and then Saturday when I travel back - It sounds like it should be enough, but not sure what even say a can of coke would cost.

Thought I would post a little update. I ended up staying in the Ginza-Kyobashi area and was working in the Maranouchi area so only a 15 minute walk between them. Unfortunately we had a few issues with the job I was out there to do so only got a few hours free on the Friday. I opted to head to Shinjuku on the Metro line and yep it was fairly easy to find my way around.

Weather was great 28-30c most days and the company I was doing work for were mainly English speaking Japanese people so was able to go out with them for lunches and enjoy some proper Japanese food, I tried chicken and pork cutlets in breadcrumbs with rice, miso soup and salad, then they took me to a noodle place which was very nice and cool to see that they charged about 50p for an extra helping of noodles. But the best was a little Gyoza place that we went to in the Ginza area - they were awesome.

Also had to check out McDonalds whilst there and couldn't believe that a sausage muffin (no egg) was actually on the menu and only 100yen - so breakfast sorted for about a quid lol.

Now to start prepping for my next trip which is San Francisco in about 2-3 weeks.
