Yes, XP does run worse than the first, even on high end systems.

Im running on a C2D E6320, 2gb ddr2 800mhz, 8800 GTS OC 640mb and R6 Vegas runs fine for me, 1600x1200, everything maxed... There are times when the game slows down, but its still very playable when slowed down (id say maybe 30fps? havent checked), other than that it runs fine.

Using 162.15's

badly coded or just hungry for power ?

badly coded

it was written for consoles, which are very fast and very optimzed at what they do. PCs are not. they have to run windows which is full of all sorts of all cack that nobody knows how to get rid of. MS programmers have even admitted they dont know what half the code does, they only know if the touch it, they break windows. As a result they just leave it alone and add more every time

this makes for horrible performance with equally powered hardware on consoles., that no ammount of quad core processor etc will help with. It should have properly optimzed for the PC, instead they just copy and pasted the code over. (effectively)

Its not really as consoles are not running Windows, its the fact consoles has no variables in hardware so games can get the most out of the static hardware.

Example a PC could be X type or Chipset mobo+ ATI or Nvidia X series GPU and AMD or INTEL X series of CPU then X type of Memory etc.

PS3 and XBOX360 all have same CPU/GPU/MOBO etc, games can be optimised for that 1 hardware model and squeeze max out it.

its kinda annoying :( u spend your hard earnt money on a highend system expecting everything to run lightening fast and you find that some lasy coder cant be asked to make a game that isiant a system hog even on a beast owell :p :p :p :p

rainbow 6 vegas uses the unreal engine 3, also that robot game out as well used the same game engine and it performs the same.
expect the same from bioshock and unreal tournament 3 so you got to turn down the detail settings. start with the shadows first.

Just played Vegas all the way through on my 8800 GTS in 1680*1050 and it was smooth 99% of the time. I had shadows on low and motion blur off, but it still looks awesome.

I completed it as new with no patches on a 7900GTX it was buggy but I made it through and I maxed all I could on that card, played at 1280x960 though.

Yeah I played it maxed at like 1440x900 and it very rarely dipped below 30fps, it was 35-40 average, pretty good I thought.
