Hi, I have the Tom tom version 5 softwqare but was wondering if it works with any gps reciever or would i need to get a specific tom tom conpatible one?

Thanks

It works with most, yes. I've not heard of one it wont work with anyway (though all the ones I've seen claim to work with TomTom before hand anyway).

Are you taking an old unit and installing TomTom5 on it? I didnt realise you could do that, cos i thought there would be hardware incompatabilities, i.e the bluetooth reciever in the 500/700 units.

What are you running tomtom5 on?. pda, pc, mobile phone?

If its a pda, mobile you can definately use another bluetooth gps receiver.

I use a £30 BT one which I got from the 'bay' ... there are loads on there to choose from and most are compatiable, just make sure its a bt-77

i actually has an Acer N35 PDA which i cannot get tomtom5 to work on as it will not install the driver for the gps, i have just purchased one of those dell axim x51v's and was looking into buying a bluetooth gps reciever for it to put tom tom on it.

A bluetooth receiver from the 'bay' will be fine, cost you about £30, BT-77 works like a charm, very fast sat lock on and never had a problem
