Hi there,

Made the foolish mistake of trying to copy across the maps folder from my Tom Tom Go 510 to my m8s Go 300. Ever since doing this, all my m8s Tom Tom will do is boot up to the Tom Tom Logo and then freeze with a verticle line going down it.

I have tried restoring a backup I made of his map folder, but this has failed to resolve the problem.

Does anyone have any idea of how to sort this? Is he going to have to purchase a new GB map and put it onto his tomtom?

Cheers

You tried resetting it?

Should be a hole or something on the back.

Hi m8,

Thanks for that, have tried, yet it failed to resolve the problem. Maybe there is some anti-piracy protection in the software and it has thrown a strop at me moving/renaming the folder?

Use TomTom Home to re-install the main application. My dads TT-One just froze in exactly the same way and that fixed it.

The maps are encrypted to the device code of each unit, so are not transferable AFAIK.

Tom Tom X10 maps will not work on X00 devices!... plus thay are Locked to a device by a code to stop piracy!, as the maps are the costly part of the tomtom!...

Did you make a Back-up of the 300 before your attempt (you should always do this, even before updating POI's etc...), If you did just Re-Install the 300 from this!...

If not ( ) you need to dig out the TomTom 300's CD and see if its got the factory defaults (a backup done on shipping) and re-install that!...

Otherwise its off to tomtom them selvs to get a replacement of the software/map... for a price!..
