Tomb Raider 1-3 (1990s versions)Now CANCELLED!!

I was tempted to replay these games a little while ago, emulating my original Playstation discs, but after refreshing my memory with some gameplay video's I decided to let the nostalgia be. I can't imagine how frustrating and empty they'd be in today's gaming environment, and just giving them a new coat of paint is probably not the solution to making them better. Still, I have a nagging urge to go back to 3 and The Last Revelation....

I re-played some of TR2 a couple of years ago.

I enjoyed it similarly to how much I had back in the '90s. Which is to say, it was alright, but I couldn't be bothered to get all that far: first level was better than most of the others.

I would imagine by today's standards it would feel a hollow shell.

I have to have pretty intense nostalgia to enjoy some of the games of my past, especially with third person mechanics.

I've thoroughly enjoyed playing older fps, but I gave the old splinter cell a go recently and it felt awful, I couldn't manage an hour.

TR 1 on PC through Dosbox, Glide API, Xpadder and PS1 audio mod is godly. Bit of a faff to set up though.

Edit: I mean from a nostalgic POV. I played the original on PS1 to death, then on PC with a Voodoo 2. I replayed 1 after Anniversary and despite it's horrid tank like controls it's got a special place in my heart. I am a bit of a weirdo though, still replay Quake 1 regularly in openGL with settings that replicate how I played it all those years ago

Thankfully this has been cancelled already it seems the developer did not even have permission! Hopefully Square Enix make some proper remasters of these earlier games using the current Tomb Raider engine!

I don't see why everyone has a fit every time the word remaster is mentioned. What would have been so bad about actually being able to play the old games in 1080p with full controller support on Steam? I bought them all on Steam and they're unplayable, which is sad as I'd love to go down memory lane and play through them all.

It was never an official remaster anyway, PC gamer just put out half arsed articles without checking the facts and shouldn't have called it a remaster. I got excited until I did 10 seconds of research and realised straight away it was just a proposed mod by some kid in his bedroom and wasn't going to happen.
