So according to some gaming news the "Definitive Edition" on consoles *PS4 + Xbox One* will have better graphics than the PC version

This year's "Tomb Raider" was plenty pretty, Especially the PC version. However, An extra year of development for the "Definitive Edition" means that the upcoming PS4 and Xbox One port will look even better than the PC version of the game does right now.
According to Siliconera , Executive producer Scot Amos says the next-gen port will include all of the higher-resolution textures found in the original PC version, Including special effects like TressFX.

However, The PS4 and Xbox One versions will also feature upgraded character models, And an upgraded physics system that now affects the items that are rendered on Lara's character model.

There's also a new particle system, New lighting, Enhanced shadows, And additional graphical details, Like added wall detail and more environmental vegetation.
Both Xbox One and PS4 will run the game at 1080p, So as not to repeat another "resolutiongate." However, Crystal Dynamics isn't ready to commit to promising a 60fps for either platform.

Does this mean the PC version will get an update or will this be an exclusive for the console owners ?

I'd rather they concentrate on getting rid of the endless cutscenes and constant QT events to make it a game that you actually play rather than sit and watch.

They need to give the console a reason to be there given that they are just low spec PC's themselves.

Sure, but given how much less a console costs compared to a PC capable of running the game(s) at high-max levels with framerates to match, I'd say that's reason enough :)

Let's be realistic and perhaps a little less dramatic at least :D

Don't care it was a monotonously boring game anyway.

Plus, they have to do something to it to get the console folk to buy it a second time.

Just like how they don't release GTA on PC at the same time as consoles. Because they know people with the consoles will then buy it on each system (console and PC) eventually.

The quicktime nonsense is an annoyance but I really liked this game , did not think I would, got it free with my 7870 myst. A high res patch would be a good thing. It would sell more copies of the game that is for sure. A paid for High res DLC will be what will happen, if it happens.

Ridiculous over the top comment as usual. If you don't like something fair enough, but for some strange reason some people feel the need to only comment from one extreme to the other (great or garbage).

I personally thought it was one of the most enjoyable playing games this year (I have no TR history to colour my view), and it looks great on high settings as it is. Couldn't care less if they manage to improve the graphics on consoles further; as it has no impact on game play; but they need to say something to try and sell more copies.

It wasn't, it was someone's opinion which just happens to differ from yours.

TR is a pale shadow of it's former greatness, the new version gave us eye candy over substance. Overall it wasn't a failure but it wasn't AAA either.

It sold 1m+ copies in 48 hours and was only beaten by GTAV, it is also the best selling Tomb Raider game. It was a best selling game in nearly every country it was sold in.

Not only was is a success with gamers, it also received positive reviews across the board and was one of the best selling games of 2013.

Your comment is greasy with bias.

Ridiculous overly dramatic 'opinion' :p

Square still took a loss on it, after spending $100m on advertising... for Tomb Raider! Like it even needs advertising let alone that much spent on it. :D

Largely their own fault, publishers seem to be massively over estimating game sales at the moment.

Then again they have now got a franchise to milk, so I imagine it will sort itself out.

No bias, just opinion. I prefer the original games and content over Lara's new boobs.

I'm sure WoW broke many records, I didn't like that either. Sales figures don't make me enjoy a product, nor should they yours.

Its highly unlikely to look any better than the PC version which already has higher res textures....the publisher believed it would sell about 5m copies (it sold nowhere near) the 5 year delay in making this did not help the budget if they had gone PC only initially (PC sales for TR games used to be 2-3m per game for the early titles ) this game could have been finished 3 years ago so they only have themselves to blame cutting down gameplay to QTE events in place of a proper inventory system & a decent storyline instead :(
