Tomorrow....

A Vtec system has never been replaced under warrenty is the official line. Which is true.
Not surprising really as it is a very simple system

Oil pressure is a possibility, but pressure has always looked good on my guage.

I haven't been near VTEC since fitting the S300 because it was just on a base map.

I must admit even with the old ECU there has never been a real VTEC kick, I put this down to the B20 having more torque off VTEC than a standard car, which I assumed was making the changeover less noticable.

Having said that, it certainly didn't feel as if it was actually losing power....

Drexel mate you've got bad luck when it comes to tuning cars it would seem! The scoob wouldn't make more power due to some timing problem IIRC? The RX7 had to have a rebuild, this car snapped its cambelt? And now won't make Vtec, seems like you need to stop modding :p

In all seriousness though, best of luck with it, I hope it gets sorted!

I have my P73 without immobiliser sitting about not being used, you're welcome to try it.

Thanks, I might take you up on that.

TBH though I'm not convinced it's an ECU problem, my 'VTEC YO' light is changing colour so the ECU is outputting the signal. Also, the garage are convinced it's just not mechanically changing over.

Yeah, saying that if the solenoid is activating then it seems to be all working. The rockers have sort of sliding pins inside them that lock the followers together when they get oil pressure behind the, if the cambelt has broken is it feasable the rockershaft has bent and the pins can't slide?

Did you bend valves when the belt went?

Regardless of conjucture. Honda make some of the best engines in the world.

Indeed. I honestly wish I had just bought a stock engine when the cambelt went. There is one for sale on the ITR forum for a bargainous 1250 delievered. That's less it cost for the top end rebuild on mine.

Yes, all valves were bent, so that makes perfect sense.

It just wants a cuddle and a kiss, makes everything betterer.

Also, driving around and not hitting the VTEC (y0!) must have been awful.

If the rockershaft is bent, shouldn't Powerstation have picked up on that when they rebuilt the top end?

Do I have a realistic chance of getting them to replace it, seeing as the work was warrantied?
