Toms hardware cpu benchmark test

with socket m2 just round the corner it would not be wise to make any sort of upgrade just yet.

i plan on running my system as is till 2007 before i do a major overhaul

yeah. I'd be lookign at around putting £60 after what Id get for mine to upgrade though....and Im only down by around 15-20fps on toca 3 to get me to that all important 60...;)

Hi,

I don't agree with that, of course I have just upgraded myself (coming from P4/Springdale/AGP) to my first A64 system.

What I got for my money was a great Opteron CPU, a matured and proven ASUS Socket939 SLI mobo and a full set drivers that are stable (oh yeah and last years uber £350 pci-express card for £145.00!).

Its a matter of opinion, but I personally don't think its a good idea to buy into a platform thats freshly released, and who is to say AMD won't adjust the socket again 4 months after M2 is released, I seen that happen a few times from both INTEL and AMD.

I can understand why some people just can't wait to buy something that is fresh and new, but my PC does not define me, and I do not need bleeding edge hardware to try and stand out from a crowd.

I need a stable platform, that is extremely fast in all tasks that I perform, and most importantly it must do all this and be great value for money as well! :)

Now is a great time to upgrade to socket 939 for the first time, the waiting game is no fun, neither is the term *future-proof*.
