My TomTom 510 has decided to stop working just a month after I purchased it. Simply put, it refuses to turn on anymore.

I will take it back to the shop I bought it from and will hopefully get a replacement, but I want to know if my subscriptions to traffic and speed cameras can be transferred across to a different model. I'm pretty sure I had to give the serial number of the model when I purchased these services.

I would ring TomTom, but they are only open Mon-Fri and I want to take it back to the shop today so any help would be appreciated.

Other than that, would there be any difference in taking it back to the shop or going through the faulty goods process on the TomTom website?

Thanks.

Hi,

I would take it back to the shop for a replacement as TomTom can take months. It took them two months to send me TomTom 5 software.

Hopefully you should be able to get your subscriptions working by editing the details on the account service details in the preferences on your TomTom device. If it doesn't work then get in touch with TomTom and explain things and they should be able to transfer the subscriptions across.

You need to do a hard reset.

Take it off the mount and in that bit with all the gold connections there is a small pin hole. Poke it with a pin a couple times and then everything will be back to normal :)

It will probably take a you a minute to spot where the hole is because its very difficult to see, but trust me it is there.

My tomtom 910’s are ******* useless, it keeps turning it self off if I have it connected to the car charger, sometimes it can take 15 min to find a the satellite signal :(

You guys should have bought the TomTom ONE. Less of the gimmicks, less cost, same GPS reciever and more reliability.

The new Tom Tom's are having teething problems. Updating to the lastest software does help.

In reply to Daniels post. The turn around for a Tom Tom repair is 5 - 10 days, whether you send it back yourself or get the retailer to do it on your behalf. Which is quite good considering they are sent to the Netherlands for repair.
