Evening chaps. After some advice if possible please...

I'm interested in buying an action cam, predominantly for filming cricket stuff similar to these guys http://bit.ly/1YXDJDX . I imagine when summer comes round it'll be recording stuff in the nets and then maybe a game or two.

Looking around at the options available and the two that stick out are the various GoPro's and the TomTom Bandit, which the premium pack can be had for just over £220 after a cashback deal. The reviews seem fairly positive and it seems like with the adapter it'll fit any GoPro mount, in particular the chest mount. Also getting a reported 3 hours of battery is good, which is super ideal considering an innings of 35 overs is often around that long.

And then obviously there's the GoPro's, where I'm a little stumped on what I should be considering. In direct comparison to the Bandit it seems like it'd be the Hero 4 Black/Silver but at the cheaper pricepoints I'm wondering if the Hero+ or Session would match up to the job, but the main issue of batteries being non-removable and only getting around 2 hours before having to do a recharge has me umming and ahhhhing.

Any thoughts/advice/stuff would be much appreciated! It's honestly not an area I'm too well versed with.

Bump. Think I'm gonna plump for the Hero 4 Silver, before I go diving in and spending £250 odd is there any point in holding off with CES around the corner?

Have a Hero Black which I bought for both work (ironically on helicopters so expected that noise!) and scuba diving. GoPros seem to come with an awful lot of different attachments, multiple settings for you to change the resolution, prolong battery life and filming time etc.

My experience has been nothing but positive with the GoPro. Had not heard of the noise until now.

There's all manner of info available about GoPros so I'll concentrate on the Bandit.

Battery life is marginally better but batteries are not as easily replaceable as they're part of other elements. Spares cost £45 compared to under £10 for GoPro batteries.

The form factor for the Bandit is more of a bullet, meaning that it would not be practical for a chest mount - the mount plus camera would stick out 10 or 12 cm.

I'd take a GoPro with a spare battery.

I got the Premium bandit for £120 inc. cashback when it went on a freak sale / misprice which Amazon honoured a few weeks back - was too good to refuse and obviously means I'm biased towards the bandit but there's nothing it can't do in comparison to the Silver (it actually does more all in)

The Live view on phone works really well, the editing system via phone is also easy to use and effective for simple on the fly editing.

The remote is simple to use, no more faffing in cold weather with gloves.
The battery life is around 45 mins more which when you consider gopro silver averages 2 hrs (max) that's nearly 40% more so much more than "marginal"

The rotating mount is clever, means it can be attached at all angles - the universal gopro mount means you don't miss out on what's already out there.

The speed / distance / GPS overlay is a nice feature, can event link my heart rate monitor if I was bothered enough.

Rainforest site had a Hero 4 Silver Adventure edition with 32gb SD card for £227.50 delivered, so I've bitten on that and bought a bunch of accessories and battery packs to with it. Can't wait to get started...
