Somethings up with my TomTom, I turned it on today and I get an animation of the SD card coming out of the TomTom unit and then a red cross going through the card.

Any idea on how the get this working? I need this fixing ASAP really, work gave me a new call area im not familiar with.

Try taking the card out and turning it on, then put the card in.

If that doesn't work, take the card out and turn it off. Put the card back in and hold down the power button for ~5s, should reset the unit.

Both are a no go! Think the files on the SD card are corrupt, any chance anyone has a working backup?

Isn't the reset by the windscreen mount - round the back? Failing that there is an image of the SD card on CD that came with the unit.

Yeah there are two resets, I knew about the mount one but not the 5 second power button. Cool, but thats in the loft grr :p Gotta go dig I 'spose.

Well I put the CD in, and go to TomTome home and click the CD tab for the install source but there are only voices and satellites.

The SD card comes with the software on, I see no option in TomTom home, or any installer on the CD to put the software back onto the SD card if I did reformat it.

I'm not sure what to suggest then. My 910 came with a restore image on the CD, so I assumed (huge mistake) that the 510 would too.

I phoned support, they sent me an installer via email and it is sorted. You're probably thinking, why didn't I do that in the first place?

Well I googled for the error and some bloke on a forum basically said to send the whole lot back to some other person with the same problem.
