How do I put software onto the tom tom thats been downloaded onto my pc.....................?

many Thanks

Make sure you have Activesync installed and that the PDA is connected to the PC. Run the setup program for TomTom and it'll install to the PDA through Activesync.

The Tom Tom installation program should automatically detect your SD / CF card when you run the install program. If you're installing on a PDA you will need active sync installed IIRC.

If you have a way of getting the CAB files from the TomTom CD onto the SD card then you don't actually need to use ActiveSync to install TomTom. This is how I had to install TomTom 5 onto my iMate K-Jam because the installer barfed at ActiveSync 4.1.

Copy over the CABs and install in the following order:

GPS.CAB - The conduit between TomTom and your Bluetooth COM port
PIMAddIn.CAB - The conduit between TomTom and your Outlook contacts
WZD.CAB - The Today plug-in (optional)
TTN.CAB - The actual application and data files

Then copy over and install the voice CAB that you want:

ENGF.CAB - Female UK voice
ENGM.CAB - Make UK voice

Next up copy and install the map (Great_Britain.CAB), then start TomTom Navigator and away you go.

Ah very interesting. Thanks for the tip. :) I use AS anyway as I synchronise my PDA to outlook etc... But that could be handy for some friends of mine. :)

gatso camera location software, actually off a friend who used msn to transfer the rarred files.

OK if it's that Gatso stuff you should have 2 files...ov2 and bmp extension if I remember right. You can just drag and drop these into the Great Britain folder on the Go. Check here for installation details

Sorry to hijack this thread, but does anyone know how to stop TT5 loading up everytime I put in the SD or CF card?

It was originally installed from the SD card, not over AS.

Palm or Windows mobile?

If it's windows there's two autorun files in the 2577 folder (I think that's the name) just rename them to something else. I think that stopped it for me, if not try the same with the start.exe in the root of the card.
