Hi,
If you haven't updated your ONE lately, nows a good time. There is a major application update and they seem to have made a lot of improvements. The one that immediately caught my eye was the fact that it has a specific option to route-plan (even more complex itineraries) even if it does not have a stored current-fix on your position (and no GPS signal). I talked about the former minor annoyance related to route-planning in the thread below:

I haven't had a chance to explore it thoroughly yet but it looks so far like a major overhaul.

p.s. there is also a major TomTom HOME update (which is a major overhaul as well). So you'll end up updating both in one go; for me, the old HOME first downloaded the App update, then downloaded the HOME update, and then the new HOME downloaded the App update again, but all seemed to work properly.

I will check this out, But i don't want to have to install TomTomHOME again to update my TomTom, is there any other way? :(
I've never done it, but I think the App can update via a bluetooth enabled phone as well. I've checked for updates that way, but none have been available when I did.

But HOME does ask you whether you want to do the update, so just answer "no". You might need to manually check updates for the ONE after doing that because the HOME update appears to interrupt the App update.

But the new version of HOME looks good so far. It's quite different in appearance... more polished.

Does it mean mapshare work on XL now??
By mapshare, do you mean a way to share map corrections that other users have reported via their devices. If YES, then YES the new App contains a "Map Corrections" section in the main menu. You can report your own errors and choose to accept corrections made by others; and for that there are several options like: 1) only those confirmed by TomTom 2) only those reported by many 3) only those reported by some, etc. Note that I don't have the XL, but I guess they are virtually the same except for the screen size.

Another new option that I noticed is that it warns you about unpaved roads in your route. At least I never got that warning for the same roads before.

You now also have the option to have status bar vertically as well, but I don't see the point of that and the map becomes quite small if you choose that (better if you have XL?)

I'm still poking around in it briefly when I get a chance. Not sure if I've noticed all the changes yet. Looks good though :)

No you don't get me, i don't want HOME on my computer at all, i see no point the useless peice of software apart from updating my TomTom in the past... It's a big peice of bloat that by default wants to set itself to load with windows?! I guess there is no other way to update my TomTom though... I'll have a browse

I just bought the new TomTom One V3.

It only arrived yesterday so havent tested it in the car yet. It does have a lot more features. The help me option is good. It will tell you your location if you need to call a breakdown service and will also point you to the nearest hospital, doctors, dentist and chemist shops etc.

It even has a first aid section from the red cross that gives good advice in case of an accident etc.

It can warn you if you are going over the speed limit and has the speed camera database built in which can be updated through TomTom home.

You can disable TomTom home from starting in the options.

At the top of the screen: Preferences >> TomTom HOME Preferences >> Start TomTom HOME automatically when my computer starts (recommended)

Just untick the box :D

Anyone know when this update'll be available for older (I've got a TTGo500) models???....

I've been using the 'Beta' of Tomtom Home v2 for about a month!... its a lot better than the older versions!... It actually recognised all my POI's/Applications etc installed on my GO.. :)

Yeah I heard that this new version of the device comes installed with a new App version. I guess the App is exactly the same as this update with the exception of anything bluetooth related. I heard that bluetooth is stripped from the new device version.

That brings to mind that another new feature is that you can now get GPSfix updates via bluetooth as well.

Yep I all that you mentioned is in the App update for the older ONE's as well. Speed camera stuff was there before though I never used it myself. All makes it a much improved device.
