Does anyone know if it is possible to attach the tomtom sat nav to the stereo/video unit in the car?

I was thinking of buying a new stereo, and want the tomtom integrated to the stereo unit so its not up on the windscreen

The pioneer head unit in my truck has an AUX input, I run a lead from the headphone socket on my iPhone to the HU when I'm using my Sat Nav app, assuming the Tom Tom has a similar output and your head unit an AUX input then I don't see why not. :)

thanks

I have a tomtom GO 6000 if that helps

oh and its not audio I want its the whol thing (video and audio)

It is possible, it depends what car multimedia system you have. Could you be more specific what device/multimedia system you're trying to connect your sat nav to?

all I have at the moment, is a tomtom GO 6000

and I want to buy a new head unit, so I think I've decided to get one that I can connect my tomtom to it, so I don't have to put the tomtom on the windscreen and have it navigating through my headunit if is possible

I'm not entirely sure if this will work with your sat nav, but the way to output the video is by mini-usb/usb. The best thing would be to get a media system with android as it allows you to do some modification's which could help you connect the sat nav to it.

So something like this possibly: http://www.pioneer.eu/eur/products/25/109/281/AVH-X8700BT/page.html

But, I'm not 100% sure if this will work, so its best to get someone else's opinion on this. You might be better of asking in Mobile Phones & Tablets

thanks for your help
my tomtom 6000 has mini usb like all the other sat navs, for charging and connecting to computer for updates

The Go 6000 doesn't support any such thing so you'll either have to get a new head unit with built in nav And ditch the Go 6000 or get one of the TomTom mounts to permanently mount it somewhere more sensible.

I've got the official TomTom dash mount for my Go 6000 which keeps it out the way. Even though I have a high end Pioneer HU with built in nav, the TomTom is much better and Pioneer charge crazy amounts for their map updates.

Thanks Phemo
do you know if this is possible on any tomtoms ?

I really like the tomtom so I don't really want to get rid of it

can you not get an Android head unit and use the Tomtom app?

This! The new TomTom app is based of the new TomTom OS and you get 50 miles free every month so it might be worth a try as it doesn't cost you anything.

New Tomtom Go app released worldwide

New Tomtom Go App for Android released worldwide.

Edit:

You can grab a 2nd hand nexus for under £70, you could get a nexus with faulty batterry, as you'll have to connect it to a powersource anyway.

The ROUTE 66 Navigate seems popular on here and gets mentioned quite a lot. It uses TomTom's maps and traffic data, I think Uriel has written an review on this app, might be worth a read before buying out the TomTom subscription. ;)
