A search only brought up the thread about it being exclusive to the 360, which it isn't, so I thought I would start another.

Anyway Ride has been priced and dated http://kotaku.com/5331336/tony-hawk-ride-dated-priced-for-the-uk

I was tempted to get this to see what it was like and for new toy syndrome but at £100 I'll leave it I think. Is that now 3 Activision products that are going to retail for £100 and over (MW2:Prestige, Ride and DJ Hero)?

No. Frikkin. Way

Ridiculous price, and in the game is still probably going to be the same sub-standard Tony Hawk game regardless of how you control it. I'd like to try it at some point but for now I'll stick to Skate 2. Activision are going to quickly overtake EA if they keep charging over £100 for every game.

Nothing will beat TH2 no matter how hard they try. Skate is also better then TH these days.

You've got to wonder what goes through their mind. They're losing their long term fans to Skate and we're in the middle of a recession...

So they try to entice us back by releasing a game for £100.

It is a cool idea but the price and timing is just extremely poor. Skate innovated with its controls but at the same time, in a way, potentially made the audience smaller as the controls are complicated. Trying to explain how to control it to a few of my game playing friends has turned them off it straight away. I can't imagine most other people wouldn't understand or be interested. Doing it the Ride way would probably open up the audience but unfortunately they have missed the target with the price. Although I must say from some of the footage I'm yet to be convinced it is going to be any good.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA They can **** right off!!!111!!11ELEVEN!!!!!!!!!!!!1!!!!

I am not paying that in a million years. They are takin the weewee with prices. Now come on really, how much would that board cost to make?

The prcing is insensitive considering the recession and all. You can buy a console for that.

All that for one piece of hardware, you can buy GHWT band in a box for that.

I know this post is all over the place but its really wound me up.

I hope this product doesnt sell well, show them what rip-off scum they are. They are pushing it by raising the price of MW2 and acting all cocky saying they would want to raise prices even more, they need taking down a peg or 2.

Activision Blizzard are really starting to get on my nerves actually. They are either incredibly stupid or purposefully trying to **** everyone off. Or both.

I'm actually more annoyed at the fact somebody was dumb enough to think a skateboard controller that remains on the ground would be a good way to control a skateboarding game.

I mean seriously, it's just not going to work at all nor is it going to imitate skateboarding other than being able to move around a bit.

Couple of questions,

What's better these days. Skate or TH?

Also it seems activision are cashing in at the moment. In this current economic blah blah games must be selling extremely well? Maybe its a cost effective form of entertainment that people are willing to put more money into at the moment, and activision are acting on this.

Thoughts?

Skate is soo much better than TH now its embarrassing to think of Tony Hawk slapping his name all over this junk and trying to take us for a ride ****.

They could have just copied the skate control system (yes we would have mocked and shouted) But then we would have forgotten all that and given it ago and if done right could have been good and brought them back into it.

Idiots

Well from the looks of the E3 videos this new Tony Hawk game still has that "clunky"ness I hate about all of the latest games in the series. Something that Skate 1/2 just doesn't have.

To produce a real/satisfying skate game everything has to be smooth, transitions between stances, direction changes, flips, ollies, they all still seem to "snap" into place on the videos I've seen of TH Ride.

Skate 2 will still be far more rewarding to play I reckon. Plus I think the controller is going to be overly complicated and quite a distance from the realism the actually want

i actually liked the tony hawks series of games more than the skate series, but this new chapter in TH is just a monstrosity. it looks worse than THPS2 for goodness sake :(

edit: this will be the only tony hawks game i wont have bought on a major console.

I would be inclined to say Skate.

I just bought Skate 2 last week and i do enjoy playing it. Im pretty crap at it though, still getting used to the controls. Once that is done im sure i will enjoy it even more.

Its a shame the way Tony Hawk games are going....I used to really enjoy playing them on my Playstation 2. American Wasteland was the last one i played and i didnt enjoy it as much as the previous games, Tony Hawks 4, THUG etc.

Was kinda looking forward to RIDE however with the price mentioned and the pretty negative feedback so far i will be cautious on this one.
