Tony Hawk's Proving Ground - PS3 - Can't 'revert'.

I have just got this for the PS3 and it looks like a decent game. However, at the start I need to complete a goal where I have to jump on a quarter pipe and on landing, press R2 to 'revert'. Now, I have tried this a million time but it just doesn't do everything. I'd tried pressing it as soon as I land, holding it, pressing before, after, during etc...

IT'S DRIVING ME CRAZY!

Please help.
 
yeah its usually when you get on-line with the top of the half pipe, ive got this for xmas so cant really help much more than that :)
