Yes. No one will care about one of the biggest rivalries and two of the most recognizable clubs in the world of football.

To be honest, there are plenty of people north of Newcastle that don't give a toss about the EPL and its clubs. I'm not that ignorant though and love football from all around the world.

Yeah i remember Advocaat was fuming with the officials that he wasn`t red carded.

Albertz also showed remarkable compusure to slot the resulting penalty away after having picked Lambert`s teeth out of his shin guards.

You may laugh but they are highly recognisable clubs throughout the World, for instance take a look at the Deloitte Football Money League - 2006/07 is the last time they featured although I don't know how far they are from the top 20 now. It's worth noting that the clubs above and around them all come from nations bigger than Scotland by a factor of ~10 or greater so it would not be unwarranted to assume that many of the fans generating revenue for the club are outwith Scotland.

There are doubtless other metrics you could use rather than purely revenue but as another which is somewhat more anecdotal there are supporters clubs all over the World for the Old Firm. I may not like either of the clubs all that much but to deny that they are amongst the most recognisable clubs is not a position I think reasonable.
 
I think in terms of Europe, a lot of people will know the names of Rangers and Celtic, outside of Europe, I doubt it.

I don't doubt you doubt it, Tummy, but if you do a bit of googling you'll find you're quite wrong. Underestimate the bampot diaspora at your peril.

Indeed. The Old Firm are fairly big in the US for example. At least as well known as most of the English topflight teams.
 
America being the rest of the world? :)

I don't doubt that Rangers and Celtic are well known in Europe.

I wouldn't expect a child from Argentina or Brasil, or a lot of South America, Africa and to a lesser extent the middle east to of heard much about Rangers / Celtic in the same way they would Barcelona, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Liverpool ect :)

Not surprised he went. Had been in the offing for a long time imo you just cant get away with that level of at times schoolboy defending. @ Jock maybe you'll get O'Squeal back after that pumping Villa took yesterday :o
