As it's exam period, I haven't really been using my phone for a day or so, but when I turned it on this afternoon, I noticed that all of my messages in my inbox, outbox and 'drafts' folder had gone! I have absolutely no idea what happened and...words can't explain how distressed I am, as it contained important information, especially the 'drafts' folder, which I use to store info when I don't have a pen and paper at hand.

What can I do in this situation? Is it in any way possible I'll be able to get all the texts back without paying some extortionate price for a professional to extract it from the SIM or something?

Edit: My phone is the Motorola V3i, on an Orange contract. It's got a Kingmax 64mb card that came with the phone.

The v3i doesn't store the SMS messages on the SIM (especially not drafts), it has 10mb internal shared memory for this. I'm afraid you're probably out of luck with regards of any hope of getting these messages back. :( Might be worth asking a specialist but I wouldn't hold my breath.

What would be the cause of it though? I haven't done anything out of the ordinary with it...

It should keep all your "stuff" even when the battery is dead. Maybe your phone memory is faulty and you need to send it back. Bad Luck dude!

That's what I thought at first, but my photos are still there, my vids are still there and all my contacts are still there

Could be anything really, buggy software, dodgy hardware. A phone isn't really a wise place to keep important files, but I'm sure you don't want me telling you that now. I'd be more worried about losing it or having it stolen than anything.
