Too many tabs in IE.

I've noticed a lot lately that if I open a lot of tabs on Internet Explorer, eventually everything will just stop, as if I have lost connection to the internet. Can't open any more webpages or tabs, can't refresh pages and I have to close down every tab and then it starts working again. I'm with Virgin Media, are they limiting me or something?

Virgin Media can't limit you based on your number of tabs. It's to do with either your hardware or your browser. Try a different browser.

What are the specs of your PC? Version of windows and IE?

Maybe IE is damaged perhaps? Either way try updating it, or try a different browser like FireFox.

i can open 20 without a problem(gave up seeing if more would open lol)
why do you need so many open, i rarely go over 8-10 open at a time

I've got the exact same problem. I'm running 32bit XP SP3 with IE8 and a netgear router connected to Pipex (tiscali) on a rock solid 8meg connection. When the problem appears (it is quite random) I find that the first 2 or 3 tabs that were working, carry on working, but the others that don't never do. I usually end up closing IE and starting again.

I'm fairly sure it's an IE8 problem as I never had it with IE7.

As for the source of the problem or a resolution, no idea I'm afraid
