Too much dust!

Hi all,

Hope you all had a fantastic Xmas with your families and loved ones.

Now to my reason for posting, my case is getting unbearably dusty and very quickly inside it and it’s starting to annoy me.

I have an NZXT S340 with 2x 120mm fans on intake on front panel and 2x 120mm exhaust fans, 1 on back of case and 1 in roof.

CPU cooler is a 212 eco.

Anyone know how I can stop inside my case getting so damn dirty.

Thanks,

Jack

Am I assuming correctly that positive air flow is more input fans than output? So 2 intakes 1 outtake for example?

I saw a review of temps and number of case fans and it turned out that 2 intakes and 1 out take was optimum and any extra fans made negliable difference to temps.

My PC is kept on the desk top, the room is as clean as it can be, I do live in an old house which inadvertently comes with more dust as standard. My intakes do have dust filters, the one which comes on the S340.

Are we saying I should disconnect on of my exhaust fans and see how that does?

I just feel like I clean it out and then 2-3weeks later it’s quite dirty again and annoys me due to the panel on case.

My original S340 case always used to get quite dusty, but my brothers tempered glass version was super clean after 6 months use. Only real difference was he had a double fan AIO water cooler on the front of his one, I had a single fan AIO water cooler on the rear of mine. Not sure how this affected airflow but it must have had some positive affect on the dust coming through.

If you have negative pressure (more out than in) then it will suck air through every opening in the case no matter how small, the gaps will allow dust to accumulate as they're unfiltered.

Not trying to be rude, but could you hoover more? We vacuum twice a day, and I get almost zero dust in my balanced air pressure setup. Floor is carpeted and we have pets too.

Might be the case though? I’ve got a Meshify C TG for reference.

If you had a positive pressure setup, and then for example added an AIO double cpu cooler, how would you counteract the negative air flow?

Depends which arrangement the AIO was mounted in. Most people recommend it's intake and so would create even more positive pressure. It's about configuring the entire case to your needs.

Likely it would go into the front intake, in this instance you wouldn’t be really changing the setup that much, the radiator would add some impedance to th front intake, but assuming the front was already be an intake, it wouldn’t really affect pressure balance that much.

My case (r4 define) has dust filters on the intakes. I opened up the case for the first time in 18 months not so long ago and was shocked to see almost no dust anywhere...
