Too much powah for i7?

i7 needs memory that runs at 1.65v or less, as Intel claim that higher than 1.7v can damage the memory controller on the CPU. There will be a sticker on the motherboard to remind you of this fact.

You should be able run that memory at 1333mhz CAS8 at less than 1.7v without any issues.

I've had both the 3gb Gskill 1333 kit and now have the OCZ platinum 6gb kit in my i7 system. I found both kits ran at 7-7-7-20 1T with only 1.5 volts. THe OCZ does 1600 with 1.65 volts at 7-7-7-20 1T and 1866 with 1.65 volts at 9-9-9-24.

You also get the benefits of triple channel as opposed to dual for around the £150 mark if you shop around. I hear good things about the Corsair 1333 6gb kit that they have on here and thats only £140
