Too old for gaming?

Bah I used to get this all the time even when I was "the age" for gaming. 27 and been gaming since I was about 5, I reckon both parents have secretly admitted I'm a lost cause :D

In conclusion : Nope there is no age to put down the controller. Pick it up!

My mum said the same thing a month or so ago when I was getting new pc parts delivered to her house. She sadly didn't believe me when I said the average was about 40. I'm 28 and still love every minute of it haha.

I'm 26 and I doubt I'll ever stop gaming. Games just give me a buzz that I don't get in other parts of life. I mean, I love drinking, socialising, food, gym, squash but I always come back to games, sometimes after weeks/months of not playing. The feeling of pwning noobs is just addictive! :p Shame that none of my friends or gf understand this. Gaming is still not properly accepted socially as far as I can see.

Nothing wrong with gaming at any age, as long as you don't make it your focus and neglect other aspects of your life.

Everyone needs to relax and be entertained some times, most people watch TV, I play games.

I'm 26 btw :)

I'm 40, my other half is 47. Both her and I game most days. Its one of our hobbies and something which bonds us quite strongly. Never too old, and frankly I would much rather that the two of us spend a few hours of an evening killing ogres or blasting things together than sitting on a sofa watching Eastenders.

If person combines all together: Social life, job, sports, personal life, hobby, etc. + gaming ... nothing is wrong with that.
However too many people haven't noticed good weather is gone while sitting next to PC.

I'll never be to old for gaming and I'm approaching 50. Building, overclocking and then gaming on my computer is my way of relaxing.

Never understood why gaming is associated with not growing up in the minds of certain people yet watching programmes about fat kids in America or dim celebrities is thought to be fine.

Because some people have 'kids play games' mentality and never actually look at it objectively.
They don't see gaming as a art or media platform, in the same way that books and movies are.
Largely the same people that ignore the 15 or 18 rating on games like CoD and GTA because they think games are for kids (and then run to the Daily Mail in horror when they realise what is actually in the games... of course, it's not their fault, how were they to know that the legal ratings on the game meant they weren't suitable for their 10 year old kids.... but that's a rant for another day ;) )

Possibly game about since early games (ie. pre-Playstation era) required some imagination to really enjoy - something that children are better at - since the graphics were often not much more than blocks of colour.

Same things goes with cartoons, at lot of people make the automatic assumption that is something is animated, then it must be for kids. Akira/Dark Knight Returns/Urotsukidōji (delete as appropriate) say's hello.

Anyway, in my view they day you stop breathing is the day you are too old for games.
My dad is in his 60s now and has been playing PC games since I introduced him to The Settlers and Championship Manager in the early 90s.

My mum is a gamer and she is 63. I'm 40 and I'll be gaming till I die.

There is no age limit for having fun is there ?

/thread.

hmm

i'm 32 and my 57 yr old dad games more than I do, hardcore GT5 enthusiast along with a bit of football manager,

Do whatever the hell you like and have time for now while you still can. When kids or other responsibilities arrive your time disappears. I've got about 5 or 6 games in Steam sitting there unplayed, 15 or so vinyl records still in shrink wraps.... just no time any more. Enjoy yourself while you can!

i take gaming quite seriously, but i can leave it alone for weeks on end, it just depends how busy i am doing other things....

age? it doesn't matter, as long as you dont stay indoors gaming all the time.

it's hanging around online during the day that's the real problem for me, because the internet is very addictive....i spend hours just doing nothing

Haha I got exactly the same last week, followed by......does the wife know you have ordered these parts? What do you think, thats why I get them delivered to my mothers! :D

Oh... this topic again.
Never too old for things you love blah blah. Seriously though, I'm 42, have wife, kid, adult responsibilities and still love gaming; it beats going down the pub or watching Big Brother etc every night :)

This :D
