Too old for gaming?

31 in a month, my mum popped by my flat today and saw my PC setup, gaming mice/keyboard/wheel etc.. and commented that I was 'too old' for this sort of stuff and she thought i'd have grown out of it by 25 :D
I play a lot of FPS and racing games, got a girlfriend, own my flat, good job and some modicum of a social life... why the hate man? :D

Is there really an age where its best to just put the controller down?

Boys never grow up, we're all big kids at heart. That's why we will always cling onto toys like our PC's.
 
Take a break from gaming, see how long you last :p

There are two outcomes:

You stop playing games and don't miss them that much. You now have more time for other things, like helping your GF shop for a new pair of shoes :p

You realise you can't live without that special hit that only fragging three midgets with a grenade can give. You accept you are a lost cause, like everyone else here :)
 
31 too old for gaming? that would eliminate a sizeable proportion of the sim racer community if the pCARS forums are anything to go by. hell, there are lots of guys over 50 still burning rubber and smoking tyres with the best of them, and at least one in his 70s. I suspect its a similar story with all the other genres as well
 
I guess 60 year old mean playing with train sets are too old too? Same thing only that we like to play virtual games instead. Nothing wrong with it. The people who do most likely have never had any interest in it what so ever and give this typical response.
 
Just tell her it's a damned sight cheaper than going out and spending a fortune down the pub.

Isn't the average age of gamers now 30+ or something like that?

Times change, people our age are the first generation who had easy access to computer games our entire lives.
 
Im 54 and play iracing for many hours aday along with some Crysis and Skyrim.My 2 daughters are 27 and 28 and I have 4 grand kids.

Theres a few guys in the 70s in iracing.
