Came up with the following:-

Please NO Judges comments as one of these maybe a comp entry.

Well anyway please meet Marta whom I work with and who very kindly helped me out and did some posing, this is the first time I've ever directed anybody or indeed gone for a portrait shoot. Luckily she's done some modelling for Toni and Guy so she helped me out in the direction stakes!

Shot up to my office in Lloyds as we have a rather crazy reception full of 'props' plus the glass lifts I thought would make an interesting back drop (should have taken my polarising filter - stupid reflections!) and also the stairwell.

Anyway please let me know what you think? Had an absolute blast taking them and using flash of camera for the first time (teaching myself as I went!!). Would defo like to something like this again!

Enjoy!

A couple look out of focus? not sure if that's intended. (Like Pic 3)

Others are nice!, they look quite colorful, I'm liking pic 8 especially.

Poss most were taken at f2.8 and I always tried to focus on her eye nearest or eyes in general which probably threw the rest of the pics slightly oof.

The light sucked and Iwanted nearer F4-5.6 and a shutter speed of around 1/250 but never nailed that :(

nice interesting set there.

number 4 and 8 stand out best for me, lighting on 4 is good with a nice pose and composition, just a shame you clip the top off the statue. Same with 8 and her foot. i like the pose and compostion again but the image feels a bit flat.

i like the eye contanct in 1 and 2 but i feel there cropped a bit tight.

i like the pose and expression in 3 but its very blurred and the wb seems off. tho i dont mind the orange tinge.

5 is a nice shot.

6 is a little to fussy and the focus is on the statue and not Marta

7 is nice i like the harsh lighting.

not to keen on the pose in 9 and it seems a little flat.

excellent pose and composition in 10 tho the whites are blown out. same for 11.

in all a good set and a little pp will enhance them a lot. all this is just my 2 p's worth so feel free to discard it :)

Hi there,

All valid points mate and thanks for making them :) . I like 3 as a picture, but yes it's blurred as I'm think I'm only at 1/60 sec which is miles to slow to get something sharpe - pity really. Yes haven't tweaked the LB in that shot. EDIT it was 1/20 sec! I'm amazed the camera shake wasn't worse! lol

8 was a pain in the wotsit and I actually took it at a slight angle (a mistake on my part) so straightened it in photoshop and had to lose a small part of her foot... V Annoying but simple lesson learnt!

Yup you're right about 9 will have a lookee

10 and 11 were very awkward shots as they were done in the glass lift, the sun was in an out all the flaming time. I agree the whites are blown and although I don't think i'll be able to recover anything I don't think that detracts too much from the image overall.

Any better? I sometimes wonder about the calibration on my laptop but refuse to pay for one of those spyder thingymebobs!

Also anyway of getting rid of reflections in PS! I knew I shouldn't have warn that green stripy top lmao!

i've had a bit of a play hope ypu dont mind, if you do i'll remove it straigh away.

just done this quickly in ps, my pp is a bit off at the mo because of my hand so excuse the ruff edges.

used layers to blur the back ground a bit more, upped the saturation slighty, played with levels, contrast, dodge/burn and finally had a play with the eyes.

Couple more from the stairwell. lol. Again due to the slower than desired shutter speed some are 'soft' grrrrr! 12 would have been a little cracker I think had it been sharp :(
