I dread to think how many hours I spent on these 3 combined

1: Final Fantasy 7 (PSX). So engrossed was I in 7.. That by the time I got around to finishing it.. My second choice had been released.

2: Final Fantasy 8 (PSX). Yeah.. Another one... I've been hooked on Final Fantasy ever since...

Finally...

3: Ico (PS2). I wasn't expecting this to be much when I bought it. Short it may have been.. But man, what a ride. The single most evocative game experience I've had; ever, period.

 

[The Seventh One]

1. Shenmue Series

It's nice to see a few people on here mention this game, it was far too good for it's time and insanely underated/unappriciated. I just now hate Sega for not completing such a gripping story.

2. Final Fantasy VII

Like the majority say, this game is nothing short of a masterpiece. If it wasn't for the atmosphere that Shenmue gave me when I played it this would easily be my number one game. It has by FAR the best story I have ever followed in any game, period.

3. GTA Series

The GTA Series is in a league of it's own when it comes to sandbox games, I have never been disappointed by any of them and they just outclass any other games in this genre by a country mile.

Pinning it down to 3 for me is impossible, but I'm disappointed that nobody has mentioned Toejam & Earl.
That's the only game I know would be in my top 3 for definite, regardless of my mood.
