Any recommendations

Full yoke, pedals, throttle
Multi-screen, high resolution. One for view, another for instrument panel
CPU/GPU/Memory/OS etc.

What spec would I need for 1680x1050 to 1920x1080, everything maxxed out in graphics detail, scenery?

Also air traffic control system, basically ILS, and aircraft landing, etc.

I've found this..
Saitek Pro Flight Yoke System, Quadrant & Rudder Pedals

Any recommendations for best UK scenery packs, and any others which add other aircraft? (realistic flight patterns, on hold etc)

Ive orderd a Saitek pro flight yoke myself, got it for about £85 which at current prices is very good. Should get it on Friday so if I can find this thread again I can give you some feedback.

As for what computer I might be able to help you get some sort of an idea.Playing in dx9 1680x1050 and no AA (cant get it to work), I have all terrain and texture settings on max, and then autogen and scenery complexity on normal, no ground scenery cast shaddows, no airtraffic (I play on VATSIM). I get about 15-30 fps most of the time.

As for your other questions on I dont know sorry, it depends how much money you have I suppose :). I know you can save some money on trackIR by making your own using http://www.free-track.net, but you dont sound as cheap as me :D.

if you wnt it to run as well as possible, then an overclocked quad core, 4gb of ram and then a 8800GTS G92 512mb, or a GTX.

If you wait a bit, then a new penryn quad, 4gig and a 9 series card.

But it all depends on your budget, as Nieldo's rig is also fine in running it.

Not possible. You'll need the fastest GHz processor you can get. Dual/Quad makes a bit of difference but speed is more important. FSX is very CPU bound. Best to run in Vista because you can run 4GB RAM and you'll need it too. Lots of hard disk space as FSX with expansions such as scenery packs can end up over 100Gb. The faster access the HDD's are the better as loading times can be long too. Whatever change you have left from the budget, spend on VGA. The reason video memory isn't too important is that everything is distant so detail isn't that important. The most taxing aspects of FSX are autogen and animations such as boats, cars etc. These almost exclusively use CPU.

Also air traffic control system, basically ILS, and aircraft landing, etc.
Comes as standard. Not sure what you're asking though.

I use a standard controller, the Saitek Cyborg Evo but the hardnuts of the flight sim forums I frequent do rate the Pro Flight Yoke.

Just Flights scenery is good but the best is Horizons VFR GenX. This is almost unanimous. Although they haven't delivered water masks and night lighting yet the scenery is stunning and actually increases framerates over standard.

As for add-on aircraft, this is dependant on your craft style. Are you into props or jets? My fave payware prop is the Cirrus SR22 and my fave jet is the LevelD 767. Both are hyperrealistic and take commitment to fly. If you want simplicity with your craft then check out Just Flights F-Lite range.

Edit: Add MyTrafficX as well as this adds a huge number of AI craft to airports and flight as well as clog up the ATC. It's actually hard to get a word in sometimes.

Why though? Either you learn to fly or just do a day trip in one. Day trip costs about £150, PPL costs about £8000. It's an all or nothing pastime.

I'd take a guess if FS-X supports dual then a faster dual will be better than a slower quad. Not overclocking
Precisely. Unless of course, you use the system to do other things than sim. Does a similarly priced quad perform better in say, Crysis, or World In Conflict? The Q6600 surely doesn't perform better than the E8500 in these instances.

Just been looking at the Cirrus SR22, sorry to drag the thread off your topic badbob, just wondering if Ed can tell me if that Cirrus SR22 in fsx comes with everything the real one does, so right hand screen has everything, weather radar, traffic warning, fully programmed GPS that works same way the real version does?

If so I might have to get this plane, one last question, whats the cruise speed?

Ive currently been using the default mooney bravo and might get this while also waiting for the dreamfleet baron 58 ( http://www.dreamfleet2000.com/Previews/B58/preview_3D.html ).

Yep. The MFD alone has a 29 page PDF instruction manual.

185kts.

Looks great doesn't it. I must stop buying add-ons as I've got over 20 payware craft now.
