Of all time? or Just current available models?

And , lastly, to run what? - if games ,any type in particular?

But uhm, willing to bet 8800 comes up pretty high on recommended list...

I'd say that anyone who managed to nab the 480's (me included) when they were down in price to about £180-200 got a pretty good bargain..

For value/performance, at the moment I'd say you look second hand at something like a 260/280!

Off the top - My personal choice of the current crop would be 6950 - provided it was one that could be bios unlocked to a 6970 or a 570 Phantom.

But this could be overkill for someone running at say1600 x 1050 (probably 560Ti)or not enough if you want to run say 2560 x 1440 with all the trimmings ! (Maybe 580 or xfire 6970's /sli 580's)

I'm running 1920 x 1200 and my current 470 (overclocked and Zalman cooled) runs everything a throw at it at the detail settings I want without issue.

Excluding xfire/sli - 5 gpu's:)
