Top Gear's The Stig - a mere glimpse!

old news (feb 2008?) but i only just stumbled across it on the autotrader website.

But anyway, who do you think it could be? they say it could be lewis hamilton but i just dont think he fits the bill.

interesting how bbc made no comment but good for them, if it wasnt a secret then it would make the jokes and gags less appealing.

although i dont follow f1 to closely, this f1 driver looks almost like the guy in the pic or could the stig be of the female gender? its always a possibility i guess.

however unsure of the exact effect the camera which took the picture (flash?) effects the image we see through the tinted viser which almost certainly changes things.

or could the stig be a ex rally driver, touring or some other form of motorsport.

The stig isn't an F1 driver though is he? They all take a different line on the track

That picture is a bloke. And unless the 'Stigette' is very flat chested, then I would have thought their profile was pretty conclusive too.

I don't know what event this was at, but unless the Stig was actually doing his thing there, there is no reason why the person in that suit has to be the Stig. It would be a lot cheaper just to put some randomer in it for publicity events.

Absolutely. It's no secret at all that Ben Collins has a lot of involvement with Top Gear, but the benefit of the Stig character is they can use someone else when needed.

the chances are that the only time you see the real stig is when hes going round the car so that could be anyone.

i may be thinking of something else but wasnt there that stig and went off the end of the aircraft carrier - effectively "killed off" to make way for new, white stig. thought that was ben collins?

i dont mean to be a party pooper though :rolleyes:

Bah, the little bit of mystery is what makes the stig funny really. I lol'ed in real life when he was fighting those guides yesterday.

[Idiot Sinister mode]I thought it was because very expensive cars were being thrown around the track and as such timings are important. If the stig totally underperforms a car, won't [German accent]very powerful people [/German accent] who would have put lots of money into the cars get a wee bit upset?
