Top O2 broadband packages now truly unlimited again

good news to hear, im on o2s old tariff/bb and aint changing since its unlimited and im happy with it but virgins super fast bb is tempting just cant shake that stick where id have to wait till after peak to start any heavy downloads.

Mind you it would be done in a fraction of the time :)

Thats an interesting read. I'm on the old pack which is still unlimited anyway but only gives me a max of 8mb. My line has improved since I first went with them and can now get about 12mb.

Tempted to sigh up but will wait to see what people think first.

They will control usage using traffic shaping. If people take the mick they will show 'em the FUP before kicking them off. :)

How bad really is the traffic shaping on o2?

i'm still on one of their old packages which is unlimited and unshaped, but have been thinking of signing up again and taking their landline now too (instead of bt) to save some cash etc

They're still linking to FUP despite advertising "Truly unlimited downloads". http://www.o2.co.uk/assets2/pdf/O2_Broadband_Fair_Use_Policy.pdf

4.3 If you have signed up for our Basics package, there is a 20GB monthly usage allowance. If you use more
than 20GB in any month, we’ll give you a written warning (by email or otherwise). In extreme circumstances, if
the levels of activity don’t decrease in line with our instructions after the warning, we may terminate or
suspend your Services.
4.4 If you have signed up for our All Rounder or The Works packages then you can download as much as you
like up to a fair usage limit of around 100GB for the All Rounder or around 250GB for The Works. If you exceed
these limits or we feel that your activities are so excessive that other customers are detrimentally affected, we
may give you a written warning (by email or otherwise). In extreme circumstances, if the levels of activity don’t
immediately decrease in line with our instructions after the warning, we may terminate or suspend your
Services.

Lol O2 , got a slapped wrist e-mail a couple of months back for going over the fair usage unlimited package The Works, so curbed it a bit, then I take out home phone with them and my speed drops from 10mb to 5.5 (Bt moving my line to old kit I bet). needless to say I am leaving o2 in november I already have bt infinity installed which I got free for 3 months and i've done a TB in 2 and bit weeks.

Basically O2 is going to loose customers in droves, shame as they were (hence were!) a good isp.

Moral of this story - too little too late

im on the all rounder i dl way more than im ment to and never get any emails or notice a speed drop ect

I'm just posting my experience, I used to recommend O2 to freinds and family now I won't. My speed drop was due to me taking their home phone not anything to do with band width usage. FYI their FUP for the works was around 250 GB / I got slapped trust me.

I just can't see how any bband company is going to compete until they all go fibre. Good thing is that all existing customers should get better performance as people leave.

probably a good thing loosing customers like yourself tbh!

Must admit, i wasnt aware that there was any limit.

Not sure what package i am on, but is one of the old ones and costs £13 a month, after the O2 mobile customer discount is applied (Glad Mrs S stays with O2). We are supposed to get FTTC in Plymouth in Dec, but am not going to hold my breath as that has already been pushed back twice. Does anyone know if O2 are planning to offer fibre services?

As aslight off topic, does anyone know how to get O2 to replace their router? I have the wireless box II and was wanting to get their latest offering. Suppose i could ring them up and ask, but thought i would see if anyone has any experience with this on here first.
