My trusty Corsair 650W 4.5 yr old PSU died a sad death last week. RMA'ed it to The Netherlands and within a week Corsair had sent me a brand new replacement out free of charge. And to top it off, it comes with a 7yr warrenty, rather than a 5yr one the diead one did!

Would certainly buy Corsair again, top top service!

I've dealt with Corsair a lot outside of RMA and they are always helpful!
If i'm buying a component and corsair do it then I pretty much always get it :)

You cut it close on your PSU warranty :p

yeah, and did they replace it with the same model or upgrade it ?

Used to be approx £15 - probablycloser to £20 now. They replace like for like and if they can't you get an upgrade.

I had tx650 replaced with a tx750. It's no brainer for any of their £50 plus products..

when i had problem with my first corsair psu i joined the corsair forum to speak to the corsair guys directly & i must say they are very friendly & care about their customers & product. for me corsair psu's everytime. :)

Be aware, you don't get a new warranty on the replacement, it still uses the previous warranty of the PSU you returned, so you have ca 6 months warranty on the new PSU. Make sure you test it thoroughly soon.

I've had 3 Corsair PSU RMAs so far, all have been quite painless indeed. However, it's always better if you can go back to the retailer as postage costs are a lot less and if they also send out new units, turnaround will be quicker. Under the Sales of Goods act, your contract for the warranty is with the retailer and not the manufacturer, so technically the retailer should replace it themselves for the whole duration of the warranty. Any experts can correct me if I'm wrong, but this is my interpretation. OcUK say they will cover the warranty for the first year, but I believe they must cover all of it if you ask, as they are the retailer and your contract is with them. This may be of some use to people who are finding the postage costs to the netherlands quite unpalatable. I also fired off an email to Corsair support on my 3rd PSU RMA and they took care of the postage cost for me, so they're a very good bunch and despite the issues I've had with some units, I'll still keep buying them as the product is great and support is even better.

Awesome, everyone seems to always go on about Corsair's rep for RMA. This is one main reason why they are a popular choice.

Just note alexhull24's comment re the warranty.

If an item is replaced then the replacement only has the remaining warranty from the original item.

In this case 6 months.

If your new PSU died after 7 months then Corsair wouldn't have to replace it. They may do, but they can't be required to.

So, can they send you B grade stock as replacement, which are more likely to be dodgy? What if that item is DOA or breaks shortly afterwards? Do you have to pay for the shipping of the replacement of the replacement too :)? That could rack up pretty quickly.

They are only obliged to provide you a working replacement (the retailer or manufacturer), so yes, it could be B stock, but I've found Corsair don't mess around with PSUs and always send a brand new one. OcUK also sent out a new one the two times I've returned PSUs to them (and with a super-quick turnaround as well).

If the replacement is DOA or breaks within the original warranty period, I don't think it's unreasonable to ask for postage costs to be covered (especially if DOA), but I'm not sure if there is any legal requirement for the retailer or manufacturer to do so. It would certainly be in their interest to help you out though.

Corsair all the way, can't think of anyother PSU Manufacture that gives a 7yr warranty, have stuck with Corsair in all my builds in the last 5yrs.

Corsair = Quality.;)

Corsair psu's are fantastic. Never had to RMA one, but it's good to know you're well covered. My VX550 lasted for 4 or 5 years without a hitch until I upgraded for more power (hx850). Was going to sell it but have kept it as a quality backup.
