Top Ten Sci-Fi films that never existed

That was actually a good read. Can't remember who it was that posted his mate's blog in GD, but he should take a look at this for what constitutes a good, well-informed, funny rant. It even has paragraphs. :p

My favourite quote - He was comparing two pics from Star Wars - the first was on location pic the second was a CGI shot from the most recent film.

"The first one looks like they're actually standing on something (Jabba's flying barge thing). See the scratches? The beat-up paint? Nobody notices that during the movie but it's a subconscious little hint that this vehicle has been used. It has a history. It's a real object. The second shot, you look at it and expect little power-ups to be floating around. You look for your control pad. "

Bah, give me CGI over laughable latex puppets any day! The whole Jabba's palace section of ROTJ is awful! Besides, the ships and stuff in the prequels were meant to look new and shiny.....that was a conscious effort to show how things were before the Empire took hold and everything went to cack. They say so on the documentaries.

OK, Star Wars fanboy rant over :p

The jabbas palace section is awesome in its cheesyness.

What i thought was criminal was when Lucas removed the band and replaced it with those stupid CGI creatures, it looked stupid.

I remember watching it in the cinema, and you've got these cheesy puppets, then the CGI creature starts singing and he walks up to the camera and you see spit dripping from his teeth etc etc, it looked so so fake, i always fast forward through that section now.

Oh and the new bit in SW:ANH, where han solo talks to jabba.....terrible, absolutely terrible.

I loved the old latex puppets, that guy was right, it gives your a proper feel to the film. Plus acting doesnt fail when these days people have to react to either nothing ,or a guy in a blue/green suit!

the CGI kind of ruined the prequels, and they only said about the state of disrepair because they knew they needed an excuse for fanboys/girls!

Sure they where supposed to look shiney and new.Pity they looked like a video game. The prequal ships look incredible on scree, why? Because they WHERE real. And with todays cgi lucasarts should have done better, but they dropped the ball. Personally, even though i like the guy I blame lucas's lazy film making.
