Hi all, whats the top three 2.1 speaker setups from OcUK shop ?

I dont have a price limit, but ill only pay for expensive ones if i like the look of them (have to look good).

-Have to be black (matches everything then)
-Prefer under £100 but not strict
-I use onboard sounds at the moment, but will be upgrading to a decent sound card soonish.

Thanks allot :)

I've had my Logitech Z-2200 for about 2 years now and I'm very happy with it. I don't think you can buy them anymore, but Overclockers sell the Z-2300 which seems to be the updated model. Specs look the same and its a bit cheaper.

I'm not really a sound buff, but imo, they're great. That sub kicks out some nice bass that compliments games/music/movies well.

1. Aego M
2. Aego M
3. Aego M :D

But seriously, the Aego M seems to be much better than any other 2.1 setup available from what I've heard from many people. Mine certainly sound stunning. I suppose the top 3 might look something like this:

1. Acoustic-Energy Aego M
2. Logitech Z-2300
3. Creative Megaworks 250D

Second that, had all three. Aego M's are not the loudest but are by far the best!

Well it sounds like im best buying the Aego M then :D

Do you recommend buying a decent sound card to go with them ? At the moment i just use my standard onboard sound (Asus A8V Deluxe)

Thanks guys, nice comments on the Aego M :)

as with any speakers the better the souce the more you wll get out of the speakers. I only have an audigy 2 and they sound fanatastic. will be upgrading to Xfi as soon as they come down to around £40 -£50

If you've got the money I'd highly reccommend going for an X-Fi as well. I got one when I still had some crappy 2.1 speakers and even with them there was a big increase in quality. Now with the Aegos everything sounds amazing, both music and games. If you use headphones as well the X-Fi is great since it's got a virtual surround thingy that works well in games.

In short: X-Fi + Aego M = :D

Personally I really like the BOSE Companion 2.1 setup. IMO it was very very good. I tried a number of top of the line models in some store in Canada including most listed on this site and this was the one for me.

I didn't try nor have I heard of the ones everyone seems to favour here in this thread though.

I reallly like my JBL Creature II's , but with speakers its so hard to judge for someone else, each brand have their own definitive sound which you may love or hate

Also, they are on special this week :D

(Acoustic Energy Aego M 2.1 Speakers (Black) - Retail (SP-000-AE) ) - £79.84

Sweeeeeet

Got the Aego M speakers + X-FI Extreme music soundcard, best purchase in a while without a doubt.

The speakers are excellent, and come with quality cabling. The output is punchy with three bass settings and a good top end

Overall a solid set, the satellites weighed a lot more than I expected given their size this also gives an indication of their quality!

Ok well the Aego's and the x-fi card arrived today :)

I was totally not ready for the sound improvement
I honestly didn't realise how average my previous setup was, its somewhat similer from going from the good old Adlib sound to the soundblaster back in the days :D ( well maybe not that drastic of a change ;) )

I'm hearing instruments in music i didnt know where there before, and im just thoroughly impressed with everything im hearing, its just so much clearer now and more pronounced, one of the best upgrades i've done in a good while now i believe, and of course it should last for a fair good years like this no problem.

I'm also shocked at how big the eago speakers sound, it doesn't seem right, such full and big sound coming from those 2 small ( albeit heavy and robust! ) speakers :)

Frosty gives this sound setup 12 out of 5 stars!

/edit
just for reference i upgraded from onboard AC-97 audio on an asus p4p800se Mobo with a set of old-ish Altec Lansing 4.1 speakers

Excellent :D

I need to order today as the weekly offer ends tonight, im just still deciding wether i should get the sound card or not.......

You make it sound like its worth it, ill go check bank balance.

Thanks for the report, sounds like a nice setup you have there, any pics ? :p

i have klipsch promedia gmx 2.1, they are just awesome

only problem ive had is that they can make a funny nose when your mobile phone rings, not sure why but all of them do it...

a competitor had them for sale a year or so ago, not seen them in the uk since though.
