Top tunes 1980 - 2006?

Hi, my mate recently made an album with his top tune from every year since 1980 to date.

Frankly it sucked!! So he's challenged me to do a better one. Thing i'm having trouble with is finding lists of tunes from a certain year. If i could say find the top 100 from each year i could cherry pick the best one from each and it'd be easy. I assumed there'd be loads of lists and sites across the web with listings but unless i'm looking in all the wrong places there aren't

So, does anyone know of such sites or good ways of findng out or failing that can you guys suggest a tune that you think is the best from a particular year??

Those two have got to be some kind of joke surely? Famous songs from the year maybe. Certainly not the best. And I might list mine later, but it'll take a while to do and I'm not in a fit state at the moment hah.
