I don't agree with street racing, but I also don't agree with this:

was waiting for this topic to come along...

both sides are in the wrong, neither side can take the full blame IMO.

Not take full blame? and its not manslaughter (as some suggested) its murder - no different really from cutting the brake lines on a car.

I don't agree with street racing, but if those nails are what killed the guy then they need to find out whoever did that if possible and put them away for life.

what if whoever did it had a child killed by the same goons driving that road at night? someone was obviously very peeved off with these 'tards.

both sides are in the wrong regardless.

A child playing in a dual carriageway, not very likely is it. It's obviously some 'do gooder' with a chip on his shoulder or a frustrated wannabe cop. The Rozzers are **** hot on racing on the roads, especially if it's a common spot. Just report it.

Constant speeding/racing will no doubt be frustrating, but you can't just murder people.

And that's what it was, murder.

Makes me wonder if the perpetrator expected or hoped to actually kill someone, or genuinely thought the speeders would just get a flat tire and come to know harm?

Whoever did it was either a complete ****, or very naive.

That doesn't excuse them - could just as easily have been an innocent person that crashed because of it.

Some really poorly informed comments in that thread tho... only looks like a ~45-50mph crash to me (those cars don't crash well). I've seen people flip cars multiple times at only 28-35mph before given the right (wrong) conditions.

meh, depends entirely on where to. like usual we don't know all the facts. but yes, ideally reporting it would have been best, but that would require common sense, something all parties involved obviously lacked.

What about motorcyclists? What do you think that big angry screw's going to do to a motorcyclist travelling at the speed limit? Won't be much fun for him will it? And how many law abiding types got flat tyres?

Whoever put those screws down has not only killed one of the people he wanted to 'teach a lesson' but probably done a few grand's worth of damage to the cars of people who were literally just driving places.

Still could have killed someone completely innocent just on there way home. It could have been a car full of children.

Just a utterly ridiculous thing to do.

It's not 100% that the nail was the cause yet, someone rightly stated, why didn't the ambulances/fire engines have punctures too?
