Anyone got any tips on how to properly set up fan pins? At first i was doing it the normal way you would with atx pins for a gpu/motherboard.

I have the right pins but when i crimp them and then put it into the connecter i hear the click but the connection isnt too strong, i can always pull it back out without using too much force.

When i try to pull out the pins on my vardars that havent been extended yet, they wont even budge when i use the same force.

Anyone know what i could be doing wrong ? Another thing i think i should mention is, i have to cut little wings off the side of the pins after taking them from the row.

Not sure what you mean by this. Any chance of a picture?

Got them on eblag they come on rows then you snap them off and they have "wings" . I was thinking this might weaken them and it might of had a negative effect.

I did try to extend the lock pin but it still didnt work , im thinking on scrapping some other fans i already have and soldering the connections with some wire already on them.

I know they have to be removed so they fit too lol

Strange that they are like that, would have been better with the row on the crimping end like normal.

Not sure if that is the cause, but it is asking for trouble having to cut them out.

Dont have to cut them out, just twist them untill they come off. Cut them after that.

Can you point me to where i get them on the crimping end like you suggested ?

Those in the picture are automatic machine fed terminals. They are very difficult to cut exactly right with a pair of snips. So much as a slight out of angle or just a little too much and the terminal won't fit, too little and it flaps about in the connector cavity.

I managed to source some chinese knock offs of these Molex part , which have the carrier strip on the bottom, like in the image below. These are easy to work with as you just bend them off the carrier strip and the terminal is good to go, once it is crimped on the wire.

If you wish to persevere make sure you snips are super sharp, are a side cutter type and you have a normal crimp as a guide to follow and try and cut. You may also be able to sand the burrs off with emery cloth.

If your ebay seller pictured them like above but sent you something different then raise a concern with them.

I have had concerns with said seller but i dont think he cares so long as he gets a sale.
