Hi - I need to get around 2 tonnes of topsoil on my lawns this autumn.

The only company I've found that seem to do bulk bags delivered is Travis Perkins, however the prices seem high so I was just wondering where people source their topsoil from for general landscaping purposes.

Have I missed a great supplier?

Thanks.

Our local paper has a couple of sellers offering screened and unscreened topsoil at very keen prices so it may be worth checking your local paper.

Try ebay

I have a few local quarries etc that do various aggregates and topsoil delivered on a tipper, far cheaper than mainstream suppliers/builders merchants

I paid £25 for a ton from from Facebook of all places, problem it doesnt come bagged so they just dump the soil on your drive

Thanks. eBay suppliers near me are ~£70 per tonne delivered, so not much cheaper than Travis Perkins and probably lower grade, full of weeds, more stones, etc.

Seems expensive but I suppose people need to make their money!

I think I'll suck up the Travis Perkins price.

Facebook eh. Thanks I'll check it out. Dumped on the drive is good with me, as long as it doesn't wee it down whilst on the driveway.

Ah. £30-£40 per tonne for me inc delivery.

The price can be very location dependant. If there aren't any local suppliers offering decent prices then I suppose you are stuck with the chain places.

Some suppliers might deliver on a pallet, very useful if your garden is accessible and 10m+ away from driveway!
Check gumtree!
