Hi. I tore knee cartilage playing football last Wednesday when I tried to cross from the left wing with the outside of my right foot. I was instantly in a lot of pain and went down. Got up and hobbled along. The ball came to me and I hoofed it up field.... this was a bad idea. Was pure agony.
Went to the doctor on Thursday morning where he confirmed torn cartilage and prescribe anti-inflammatries. (sp?)
I love my football on a Monday and Wednesday and after feeling a little better yesterday, I decided to give it a go. After the first 5 minutes, felt what seemed like a crack and was in pain again. Sat out the rest of the match, simply because it would be stupid to play on.
What methods are there to speed up the recovery process and how should you treat such an injury? I have bought a knee support to help and have decided against the 5 flights of stairs in college 6 times every day as I hear that this injury can produce instability and the last thing I need is to go down the stairs head first.
Also, how long do these kind of injuries usually last for? Thanks.
